Railway Coach Restaurant
Architecture & Interior Design by Sristi Interior
At Sristi Interior, we specialize in transforming unconventional spaces into extraordinary experiences — and the Railway Coach Restaurant project is a shining example of our creativity and design expertise. This unique concept involved repurposing a decommissioned railway coach into a fully functional, aesthetically stunning restaurant that celebrates nostalgia while offering modern comfort.
Architectural Transformation
Our role began with the architectural adaptation of the original railway coach. The primary challenge was to reimagine a compact, linear, and industrial structure into a safe, accessible, and inviting dining space — all while preserving its heritage and iconic rail identity.
We carefully reinforced the coach structure, installed elevated platforms for seamless guest entry, and added custom-designed stairways and ramps for easy access. External cladding, lighting, and signage were thoughtfully designed to give the coach a standout street presence, especially at night.
The surrounding landscape was developed with a platform-style flooring area, mimicking a train station environment, complete with themed lighting poles and vintage-style elements — enhancing the storytelling aspect of the restaurant.
Interior Design & Concept
Inside, we embraced the railway nostalgia while introducing warm, contemporary interiors. The seating arrangement was intelligently planned to maximize space within the narrow width of the coach, offering a comfortable layout without compromising movement or aesthetics.
The color palette combines warm woods, leather textures, and industrial metal finishes — creating a cozy, sophisticated ambiance. Retro railway elements such as luggage racks, faux ticket windows, map panels, and vintage signage were used as decorative accents, tying the theme together.
Special attention was given to:
Lighting: A mix of pendant lights, under-table LEDs, and concealed warm white strips to maintain a cozy, ambient environment.
Ventilation & Comfort: Strategic placement of air conditioning, fans, and windows for proper airflow in the confined coach space.
Furniture Design: Custom-built compact tables and cushioned seating that reflect vintage rail aesthetics while ensuring comfort and durability.
Concept Execution
Every detail — from ceiling textures to floor patterns and branding graphics — was curated to immerse guests in a one-of-a-kind experience. The result is a space that not only functions as a restaurant but also as a visual attraction and storytelling piece.
This Railway Coach Restaurant, conceptualized and executed by Sristi Interior, has become a local landmark — drawing visitors for both its food and its remarkable design. The project showcases our ability to think outside traditional formats and bring fresh, functional, and visually compelling ideas to life.
